TAD TYLER RASMUSSEN

"THE MAN WHO TOUCHED MANY LIVES"

Tad Tyler Rasmussen passed away July 9, 2011 from a long and hard fight with brain cancer, surrounded by family in his home.

Tad was born November 7, 1967, parents Alvin J. Rasmussen and Sherrie Hills Rasmussen. He served a mission in Tempe, Arizona for the LDS church. He married Harvest Hatch February 5. 2004 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple December 6, 2008. She was the love of his life.

Little kids were drawn to Tad, he had a special way of making everyone comfortable. He was slow to anger and quick to forgive. The gospel was the most important principle in his life and he touched so many people by being such a Christ like example. Tad was very compassionate. He was told many times through blessings that he was surrounded by angels and it was true for he truely was an angel. He loved riding his motorcylce. He was a finance manager who loved his job and helping everyone out. He was an avid Utah Utes fan. He will be missed by all. We love you T.T.R.

Survived by his wife, Harvest Anne Rasmussen, sons Corbin Rasmussen and Kade Hernandez, mother Sherrie Rasmussen, brothers Todd, Troy and Cory, sisters Tiffaney, Tammy, Heidi (Brandon) Ashbaker, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his father Alvin J. Rasmussen, and brother Scott Rasmussen.

The family wishes to thank those who helped with his hospice care, especially Dr. Reichman and Dr. Phillip Roberts.

Funeral services will be held Saturday July 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at the LDS Church located at 6673 Clernates Drive (5330 W.) Where a viewing will be held Friday July 15, 2011 from 6-8 pm and on hour prior to services.

Monday July 11,2011-- Happy Birthday Harvest

Today is Harvest 30th Birthday!! happy birthday! She has gone through more in 30 years then anyone I know, I admire her for her strength and her courage.She truely is the love of Tads life and I know he would want her to be happy on her birthday.
 Unfortunately she had to spend her birthday planning the funeral:( Today they were able to pick out the casket, get the plot right next to tads dad paid for and got everything ready to go. The funeral will be Saturday.. I will be posting his obituary tomorrow.

Tad Tyler Rasmussen Returned home to his Heavenly Father today at 5:19 pm. He is now at peace and watching over all of us. He is the nicest, most loving, giving man anyone will ever meet!! May he rest in peace. Please keep the family in your prayers.

The nurse just left the day and said Tad will most likely pass this weekend.. I will keep this updated so everyone will know what is happening. thanks for all of your love and support it has been felt by their entire family and by Harvest and kade.

The nurse came today and said it will be only a few more days until Tad passes.. Today  he was staring into space and Harvest asked who he was looking at and he said he couldnt tell yet. Things are being prepared for Tad to return to his Heavenly Father. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Wednesday July 7,2011.. Changing too fast

Things are happening so fast, everyday something new happens. They had a good 4th of july together it was so nice to be together as a family but heartbreaking to know it would be their last with Tad. He can no longer hold his head up on his own. He had a cathetar placed today since he is also not able to get up to use the bathroom. They also brought in a hospital bed but Tad refuses to use it so they are going to have it taken back tomorrow. He is only able to eat soft foods, i.e. yogurt, ice cream anything soft. He has moments where he remembers things and moments when he doesnt remember anything at all. It is hard to know what each moment will bring, but everyone is enjoying their last moments with Tad. They are putting these memories in the backs of their minds where they will cherish them and keep them forever.

 Tad loved Addys dress, he kept pointing at it. He also would not let go of her hand he just wanted her to stay with him forever. She is also the only one who could get him to eat this day. So she fed him his yogurt and got to spend some really good quality time with him.

 Troy and Tad.. Having a brothers talk.. Each sibling was able to have some special one on one time with Tad on the 4th of July. I am sure each one will cherish this time they had with him.

What a memorable day they had together as a family. Everyday we can feel Tad getting closer and closer to his Heavenly Father and while it is breaking all of our hearts, the family has felt all the prayers and support. Things change daily but one thing that will never change is how much Tad loves everyone in his life.

Today Tad slept most of the day, he did get up long enough to go on a walk with his mom and Harvest. He is losing function in his right arm, his sight is now completely gone. His leg function is also completely gone. He is really out of it and not really responding, if he wakes up its only for a quick second and then he goes right back to sleep. Lastnight when I was talking to Harvest she kept saying how grateful she is forSherrie and she is so glad she is here with her.Kade started his state qualifier tournament and won, he is such a sweet kid last night he went with his Grandma Shelley and kept texting Harvest to check on his Dad.. this kid has been through so much in his short 10 years of life and he is an amazing boy.  Tads time is coming soon to return to his Heavenly Father please lets keep Harvest, Kade and all of Tads family in our prayers that they may find the comfort and peace that they need especially as his time is getting nearer.

Today was a rough day, Tad has lost all ability to walk. He had several falls today, and had to be picked up every time. He was given a blessing however by two amazing men which has helped us all feel at peace, but most importantly Tad. He is having a hard time losing his independance and keeps trying to keep it. He was able to have some good quality time with his sis Heidi today. He also had some good quality cuddle time with Kade. He is such an amazing dad!!

Monday June 27, 2011 .. Good Day!!

Today was a good day, Tad was able to get a lot of rest and because of this he was feeling pretty good. His pain was minimal and we were able to keep it under control. Sherrie was able to come be with Tad so that Harvest could go to Kades game, it is so nice that she is able to be there to help. Rick came and took him on his nightly walk.. what an amazing friend he is. There isnt a lot to update today, but lets hope he has as good as night as he did day.

Sunday June 26, 2011... No more being Scared

Tonight Tad told Harvest he isnt scared anymore, he knows that her and Kade will be okay and that there is nothing about Heaven to be worried about. Today was a really hard day for Tad, the on call nurse had to come out to help get his pain under control, they added a new medicine and also upped his current dosages. The hospice nurse was amazing with Tad. They are so grateful for all Hospice is doing, they have been amazing so far. He has pretty much lost all function in his legs now, he tried to walk but it caused too much pain and too difficult to do. Troy (Tad's brother) came out and made them steaks and spent some good time with them. Rick came and took Tad on his nightly walk and was popping wheelies which had Tad laughing pretty hard.

On Saturday Sherrie came and stayed with Tad so that Harvest could spend some good quality time with Kade, they were able to go to his baseball game, have lunch together and end the night at Taylorsville days watching the fireworks. And I have to add Kade winning a $10.00 goldfish!! Yes $10.00, its all he wanted and he was so excited to get home and show Tad and ask him what they should name it. Although Harvest was still stressed out the entire time she was out, it was a much needed break and I know she appreciated Sherrie and tads sisters coming over to take care of him and give her this time with Kade.

Tad said he knows they will all be together again someday and it is so true. So there is no more being scared. Just love and quality time together.

Friday June 24,2011.. Not feeling so well :(

Tad was able to go to Kades game today, which he won :).. But has been sleeping all day, his head is really hurting him and he has been running a fever. The Dr. (not the nurse) will be coming in the morning to check on him and figure out why he has a fever. Today a lady who works with hospice came and played her harp, it was so calming, hospice really is amazing they do different things to help him stay comfortable and happy. He kept thinking he wasnt at his own house today, it is so heartbreaking and sad. Hopefully the Dr. can figure out things in the morning so that his head wont hurt and he can be comfortable.

Thursday June 24, 2011.... Tired and Exhausted

For the first time in months Tad slept through the entire night, not only did he sleep through the entire night but he also spent most of the day sleeping. He keeps telling Harvest he doesnt feel good but cant put it on something, he keeps trying to say something but just cant quite get it out. Tomorrow Kade has another tournament baseball game and they are keeping their fingers crossed that since Tad rested most of today that he will be able to make it to the game.
His friends Leeanne and Travis came and visited today, it was nice for him to visit with them and spend time with his friends. He is getting more and more exhausted and fighting more and more to just stay in bed. They said that he is like a 7 year old child, he just wants things his way and doesnt understand why he has to do the things that he has to do. He is fighting to hang on and to be with Harvest and Kade. He is still in so much pain and so uncomfortable, please keep praying for him that he can at least rest peacefully when he is resting. Please keep praying for Harvest and Tads entire family that they can have the strength to get through this and that they will know how much he loves each of them. Lets keep our fingers crossed... Tomorrow will be a great day and he will be able to go to Kades baseball game and whatever pain he may be having will be relieved at  least for the day.

Today was a good day, they had to change pain meds again but these ones seem to be working really well. He was able to go with Harvest to Kades All Star game and Kade won and played really good. It was so cute he chased Harvest and Tad down the sidewalk just so he could say goodnight to his dad, what a sweet loving boy. He said that at this point all he can see is shadows, he cant see anything clearly. He is also starting to forget who people are but once Harvest reminds him he remembers. They are so grateful for all the love and support they are being shown and are glad to have so many great, caring people in their lives.

Rick and Tad, Rick is Tads best friend and he comes up every night and takes Tad on a walk, he is such an awesome friend and Harvest and Tad are both grateful for all he does for them.

Monday June 20, 2011...

 Tad was able to see his biological dad today and visit with him. He had a good day so far they  spent some good  time cuddling. Rick came and took him on a walk in his wheel chair around the block. He woke up at four this morning to get ready for work it is breaking her heart as everyday he remembers certain things and cant remember others. He was resting peacefully tonight after a pain killer and a sleeping pill, hopefully this will help him and harvest both get some much needed rest.

Sunday.. June 19. 2011 HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!

Last night was a rough night, however Harvest was able to get Tad up in time for church she wheeled him over for Sacrament meeting. He enjoyed being there but is having a really bad day so he didnt want to stay long. After they met Tads entire extended family and went and got family pictures taken, after they went home for a BBQ and spent some time together. This Afternoon they were able to go to Harvest Grandmas house to celebrate fathers day with her extended family. While they were visiting Tad asked where his dad was, he passed away many years ago. He is definately close to his fathers spirit right now. He has not felt well at all today but he has been an amazing sport and made the best of it. He was able to get some new Nikes, that Harvest said look really cute on him and his banana cream pie. Because his vision is 95% gone the boys gave him the sweetest card that talked to him which i will post on here later.
I know that Tad is an amazing father he has raised two boys to become great men. Whatever choices they make in their lives whether good or bad they had Tad who taught them what is right, who took care of them in tough times and who loves them unconditionally.  Happy Fathers Day Tad.

Today was a sad sad day in the Rasmussen home, the bike has been sold. Thanks to Rick for helping Harvest get the new tire on it and for all he has done to help with the bike and for being such an amazing friend. Kyle(Harvest dad) was able to ride the bike down to Provo where the man buying it was at and Harvest followed behind, it was very hard and emotional for her to say goodbye to the bike. However, its not the bike thats hard to say goodbye to its the memories that they wont have any more of that is hard to let go of. Tad did okay today, he spent a good portion of the day resting. He had a few visitors which he is always grateful for... he put in his request for his favorite Banana Cream pie for fathers day which he will be getting :) .. His wheelchair also came so now it will be easier for him to get around when they leave the house. Good bye motorcycle, good bye boots.. But Harvest and Tad will ALWAYS have those memories of those bike rides over to Alpine, the rides to Tooele, The rides just around the block twenty times just so they could spend one more minute together. Those are what matter, so everyone hug the ones you love a little bit tighter and go around the block that one more time so that you can have that one more minute together in the end it will be worth it.

Today was an okay day, we had family pictures taken and they went well.  Tad was able to rest quite a bit today which is good. He had his good friends Gerald and Neal come visit and he was so excited about it, while he might not remember what is talked about he loves having the company. Corbin was also able to come visit and spend some good time with Tad, I think it was good for both of them. We also found out that Kade made All Stars for baseball and that made Tad really excited, we are so proud of Kade.
He is starting to worry about a lot of things, he asks every morning what the date is and what day of the week it is. He also asks about work a lot.  He stresses out if Kade isnt home, he likes to have him at the house all the time. We were watching Tads sisters little boy Jaxon and he still thinks that on Monday she will be bringing him over, everytime we talk about him he says dont talk about him he is small and innocent and that he loves that little baby so much.
Hospice came in today and has started and the nurse seems pretty incredible. It is nice to know he should be able to be comfortable now. As many if not all of you know Tad has an awesome motorcycle that we have enjoyed many rides on which we sold, we will be delivering it tomorrow to the new owner, this is really heartbreaking for me as we have taken many rides on this bike and this was "our" thing. I will follow up with pictures and more tomorrow.
Thank you for your love, support and prayers. I feel each and every one of them. I am trying to be strong but it is hard. Please keep praying that Tad will have comfort.

June 16.2011.. Home Sweet Home

Today they made it home safely. The plane ride home was much better then the ride out there.  I know that although they enjoyed their time together they are glad to be back in their own beds and their own home. Yesterday while they were still in Coronado Kade got to go to a couple of day camps and thats what these pictures are from. They also spent a lot of time just relaxing since Tad was feeling worse and in quite a bit of pain. Tad is content to be home and in his own bed and spent most of the day sleeping, however tonight he is in quite a bit of pain and can't get comfortable. They are hoping Hospice will be able to start tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your continued love and support Harvest and Kade both feel it and appreciate it so much.  Lets just pray that tomorrow brings at least some comfort for him.

Today was a rough day for Tad. He is on a few different medications and one of them seems to be mixing wrong with the other ones. They were able to go to the pool today for a couple of hours and Tad just sat and watched Kade and Harvest swim. He also watched them ride bikes that they rented and rode around, he just enjoyed the shade with his mom. He seems to be losing his memory more and more, he cant remember where they are asking several times where exactly it is. He has thought they were in Seattle, Arizona and a few other places he is just so confused and keeps asking to go home to his own bed and to see his dogs. His short term memory is pretty much completely gone. Tomorrow they will be coming home and Tad will be on hospice by the end of the week. They are so grateful for this time they have had together, everyone please just keep praying for the Lord to hold them up and help them through this time. I dont have any pictures today, but i will post some tomorrow.
