I have decided to start a blog about Tad and our family. I want to be able to have somewhere for family and friends to go to reflect on Tad and his life. Also a place for everyone to go to be able to keep up on his updates.
As you are all aware Tad was diagnosed with Terminal cancer a few weeks ago. I want to take you back to when this all started.( a shortened version) When Tad was 7 years old he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, at that time they were able to go in and remove the major portion of this. Fast forward to 2008, Tad began getting really sick and having a lot of pain. He wasnt able to walk and was losing his memory. We decided it was time to get him in for an MRI, and other tests. Sure enough his tumor had returned. They found 3 spots and decided they needed to get in there and remove them. He went in for major brain surgery and they were able to remove two of the three spots. After surgery he underwent chemo and radiation and we were able to have him pronounced cancer free. We were so grateful for this and that his health was able to return to him. In 2010 he started getting leg pain and they once again found another tumor this time in his spine. They were able to go in and remove it, once again with radiation they were able to save his health. In April 2011, with his regular check ups and once again his leg pain returning they found the tumor in his spine had returned. Within a couple of weeks they had him back in for another surgery. They did a biopsy and found the cancer had returned AGAIN. They sent us home and scheduled us to come back in a couple of weeks to discuss his options. Once we got home, he seemed to be forgetting a lot and not being himself. I called the doctor and ended up taking him to the Emergency Room, they did some tests but sent us home. A few days later and Tad not improving we finally got the call that his cancer was back and had spread significantly. We met with the surgeon and found out that it had spread so rapidly there was nothing that could fix him this time. We were told it was time for him to return to his Heavenly Father.
It has only been a few weeks now since we received this news, and it is heartbreaking and devastating. But we are cherishing every single moment with him. I have a close friend helping me with this blog and if I cant update it daily she will be doing it for me. I will keep you updated with pictures and his health every single day. I appreciate everything everyone is doing for me and my family. Unfortunately I cant call everyone individually I am trying to focus on Tad and Kade and so this is going to be my way to keep you all up on our family.
We are on our way to Coronado Island to spend a memorable vacation together as a family. I look forward to spending this time with him and cherishing every moment with him. The doctor finally has him on a good mix of medications to keep him comfortable and functioning. We are at peace as a family and trying to make it through each day.
Please feel free to leave your memories and thoughts on tad as well.
This is a man who has touched many lives and will continue to do so. Tad You are my hero!!
